Most musicians think of Music123
as an internet company. While this is true, few people
realize that Music123 is the outgrowth of a 75 year old
business that spans four generations.
Back in 1928, we opened our first music store. It was a
modest facility specializing in the repair and teaching of
stringed and fretted instruments. Over the years the
business was expanded to several stores, and included a wide
assortment of products for everyone from the aspiring
musician to the professional, the stores also provided
lessons to over 800 students each week.
 Film
Movement is Like many of you, I was
increasingly frustrated by my lack of access to the year's
best films. Living in the suburbs with three children, to
see a truly original film with my wife meant a 50-minute
drive to an art-house theater, a babysitter, and at least
$100. If I missed the opening weekend, I most likely missed
my chance to see the film. To make matters worse, I kept
reading about films from The New York Film Festival or
Sundance that Elvis Mitchell or Roger Ebert raved about,
that would not be coming to a theater near me.
We created Film Movement because I believe that the system
of theatrically releasing independent, foreign and
documentary films needs to be fixed.

Over the years, the company has grown into a Christian
media communications company using music, software,
video, printed music, electronic media and, most
recently, books to enhance the believer's personal
relationship with God. And, while its direct mail
division is still flourishing, the company has expanded
its sales channels to include domestic and international

even higher when sales from its direct-to-consumer and

Films - Family Edited movies are
movies that have been edited for content to remove
nudity and sexual situations, offensive language, and
graphic violence. We take out profanity and other
offensive language. We also remove nudity, sexual
situations, and extreme or gory violence. Our intent is
to edit movies so that they become comparable to a PG
rating, which often means that we will edit out content
that the networks might leave in when they show the same
movie on TV.
 ArkivMusic
ArkivMusic was founded in 2002. We spent a
great deal of time researching, designing, and building
a web site for classical music shopping based on how
real customers look for, find, and buy classical music.
As you will see, it looks very different from any other
online music store. The most radical departure that we
take from other sites is the emphasis on finding music
without typing things into a search box. We have found
that the peculiarities of classical music don't always
lend themselves to standard search tools used on the
web. For many people, spelling inconsistencies or
differing search syntax designs can often lead to very
confusing results. We take a lot of the guesswork out of
finding music by letting you click down a logical and
well-categorized path to the works and recordings that
you want As we grow, we plan to extend our product
offerings to include even greater numbers of titles from
around the world, and in 2004 we will expand our "ArkivCD"
program, allowing you to buy new copies of recordings
that are no longer available in the U.S.
The founders of ArkivMusic have a lot of experience in
the classical music business and in selling music over
the internet. In addition to key roles at online music
companies N2K/Music Boulevard, CDNow, and Tower Records,
we have worked extensively in ecommerce operations and
technology. With ArkivMusic, we aim to set the standard
and model for the next generation of online business
built on strong industry experience, sound financial
management, and real consumer demand.
